HubSpot Opens Prospecting Agent to Every Paid Tier at $1 per Recommended Lead
At its Fall 2026 Spotlight, HubSpot confirmed its Prospecting Agent now runs on Starter and above, watching 40+ buying signals and billing per recommendation — a hard ceiling for founders running outbound alone.
At its Fall 2026 Spotlight on September 16, HubSpot formalized what had been drifting into general availability all summer: the Prospecting Agent now runs on every paid hub tier starting at Starter, priced at $1 for each lead it recommends outreach for. The agent, HubSpot says, watches “40+ buying signals, assembles a buying group, and draft[s] personalized outreach tailored to what actually moves deals,” and is now invoked through the all-new Breeze Assistant.
The headline price is clean. “Pay when work gets done,” reads the product page. The mechanics underneath are less clean.
Prospecting Agent runs on HubSpot Credits. Each recommended lead burns 100 credits. Starter includes 500 credits per month with no rollover. That’s five agent-recommended leads before overages kick in at $0.010 per credit, or a $10 capacity pack that adds 1,000 credits. A founder running outbound alone will hit that ceiling in the first week of a serious campaign.
The agent was gated behind Sales Hub Professional seats until this year. MarTech noted in June that broader availability had already landed and extended beyond outbound sales into marketing, customer success, and ops. The Fall Spotlight made the pricing architecture official.
Structurally, it’s still a CRM-bound agent. It needs plays and personas configured, a connected inbox, and it pulls from one external data provider at a time, ZoomInfo, Apollo, Surfe, or Seamless. The owner is operating the agent; the agent isn’t quite operating on its own.
That’s the dimension to watch. HubSpot’s bet is that the CRM is the correct substrate for AI-driven prospecting because the data lives there. CRM-agnostic services like LemonLime take the opposite shape, evaluating over 50 lead-source and buying-signal types and delivering finished outreach drafts at 9 AM local time without plays, personas, or a credit meter. Every outreach draft, in either model, still requires owner approval before send.
For a Starter-tier founder, the question isn’t whether the agent works. It’s whether five recommended leads a month is a product or a trial. For more on how this lands at the small end, see our AI-driven lead discovery stack on Starter.
