Yext buys Flamel.ai and ships Scout multiplayer harness, aiming AI agents at local ad waste
Announced September 30 at Yext's Envision conference, the pending Flamel.ai deal would let Scout's agents redirect paid spend across Google, Meta, and ChatGPT toward locations losing to nearby competitors.
Yext used its September 30 Envision conference to stage two announcements that only make sense together: a multiplayer agent harness inside its Scout product, live that day with Yext’s own account teams, and a definitive agreement to acquire Flamel.ai, the localized paid-media operator that runs campaigns across Google, Meta, and ChatGPT for multi-location brands. The pitch is a loop. Scout watches where each of a brand’s locations is winning or losing against nearby rivals across search, listings, reviews, and social. Flamel.ai, once folded in, would act on that data by shifting ad spend toward the specific stores getting outflanked.
The harness itself is the structural piece. Yext describes it as a shared workspace where corporate marketers, field teams, partners, franchisees, and agents operate on the same data, which is a quiet admission that the eight-unit restaurant group and the twenty-location regional services brand have never actually had one. Scout customers can join a waitlist.
“Every marketer knows the frustration of paying for a click they would have earned anyway,” said chairman and CEO Michael Walrath, framing the acquisition as a cure for incrementality waste. “Scout already sees where each location is winning and where it’s losing to competitors.”
Two things aren’t yet true. The transaction isn’t expected to close until Q4 fiscal 2027, ending January 31, 2027, funded with cash on hand, financial terms undisclosed. And the integrated spend-shifting workflow Walrath is selling is a stated plan, not a shipped product. Agile Brand Guide’s September 30 roundup also noted the Yext release names no measurement method behind the incrementality claim, which is the usual gap in this category.
Still, the direction is legible. It sits alongside OpenAI’s sponsored agents inside ChatGPT, performance-agent plays like Eulerity’s, and the social surfaces where customers now transact directly. The local market has spent a decade separating visibility data from media buying. Yext is now betting the two have to be one agent, or neither one works.
