Multiply ships Ad Spend Recovery Agent, targeting 30% Google Ads waste
The San Francisco B2B ad agency launched an AI agent on September 28 that reviews every Google Ads search term daily against campaign context — arguing daily review catches drift that weekly manual sweeps miss.
Multiply, the San Francisco paid-media agency that emerged from stealth in March 2026 with $9.5 million led by Mayfield, launched its Ad Spend Recovery Agent on September 28, claiming the average B2B advertiser bleeds $126,000 a year on Google Ads search terms that have nothing to do with what they sell. The agent audits every search term daily against campaign and ad-group context, and ships inside a bundle that also includes Live Campaigns Workspace, Actions Feed, an AI analyst called Ask Dot, and Pipeline Attribution. Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads are covered at launch, along with ChatGPT Ads; Meta, Reddit, and Bing are described as coming soon.
The headline number is 30%. That’s the share of Google Ads budgets Multiply says is typically lost to irrelevant or off-intent search traffic, drawn from its own prospect pool. Multiply published no sample size, no time window, and no definition of off-intent. The two figures, read together, imply an average prospect spending roughly $420,000 a year on search; a $40,000-per-month account at the same waste rate would bleed $144,000 annually. The release also promises customer gains of “up to 700%” in meetings booked and pipeline generated, with no baseline attached.
“Google Ads produces more decisions than any marketer can reasonably make by hand,” said founder and CEO Matt Jayson, previously a user-acquisition lead at Google and head of product for core experiences at Brex. “A marketer can look at a search term and know immediately that it has nothing to do with what they’re selling, but making that judgment across thousands of new terms every day is impossible.”
That’s the real pitch: not that waste exists, but that weekly manual review can’t see it in time. Co-founder and CTO Ashish Warty, a five-year SVP of product and engineering at HackerOne, built the agent as a daily sweep rather than a dashboard the marketer is supposed to check.
The investor list positions this as a category bet. Mayfield partner Patrick Salyer, who sits on Multiply’s board, frames B2B advertising as a $50 billion market; participation came from Sorenson Capital, Instacart co-founder Max Mullen, Google Labs and Gemini VP Josh Woodward, and executives from HubSpot, Braze, Brex, Sierra, and Common Room. It’s a notable guest list for an agency wrapping an audit script, and it arrives the same week OpenAI’s sponsored agents turned ChatGPT into a live sales channel. The waste problem is being productized at exactly the moment the surface area of paid search is about to multiply again.
