Hancom's Nomadian pitches an AI-agent 'first hire' to 30 million U.S. solo founders
The Korean software company is positioning role-specific AI agents — content marketer, email marketer, data analyst — as a replacement for the first employee, with a U.S. beta scheduled for December and a TV ad already running.
Hancom introduced Nomadian on Sept. 15, a web-based AI workforce platform pitched not as software but as staffing. The Korean company is casting role-specific agents (data analyst, content marketer, email marketer, copywriter, work manager) as the employees a solo founder would otherwise have to hire, and it’s aiming the pitch squarely at the United States.
CEO Kim Yeon-su made the framing explicit. “More than 30 million businesses in the United States operate without employees. Nomadian will not only provide them with a simple work tool, but with AI employees and teams to work alongside them.” The company backs the addressable-market claim with the U.S. Census Bureau’s 30.4 million nonemployer figure and Carta data showing solo founders rose to 36.3% of new startups in the first half of 2025, up from 23.7% in 2019.
The mechanics matter. A natural-language request gets decomposed into subtasks and routed across agents that return documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, with a 3D visualization called Room that keeps brand guidelines legible to the operator. Users can build custom agents. For hard-to-reverse actions, sending an email, applying an electronic signature, the agent pauses and waits for human approval. That’s the difference between an autonomous coworker and a liability, and Hancom’s proprietary agentic OS is what enforces it.
The go-to-market is louder than the typical Korean-software U.S. push. A TV ad unveiled Sept. 18 features a solo founder alongside five agents under the slogan “AI Workforce, Built for Super Founders.” Beta lands in December, U.S.-only. Paid subscriptions follow in 2027.
The financial signal is worth reading. Hancom’s AI business posted 13.5 billion won in the first half of 2026, already past the 8.9 billion won it booked for all of 2025. The same agentic OS underneath Nomadian is in proof-of-concept work with Namyang Dairy Products under an August MOU, meaning the consumer-facing bet and the enterprise pipeline share a spine.
Nomadian’s frame borrows from a 2010s playbook: reclassify a tool as a hire, then price against payroll instead of SaaS. Whether U.S. founders accept that reclassification is the entire question the December beta will answer.
