Docusign to Open MCP Server to Every AI Agent on September 30
The eSignature company said its Model Context Protocol server will go generally available globally, letting agents in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Slack send, track, and reason over contracts through a single interface.
Docusign will open its Model Context Protocol server to every MCP-compatible AI agent on September 30, according to a PR Newswire release Friday, exposing its Iris AI engine, IAM suite, and CLM workflows to assistants including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Slack through one interface.
The framing matters more than the endpoint. Docusign isn’t shipping another integration; it’s declaring that contracts are the last non-agentic step in a B2B sales motion and that agents will now speak to them directly. “Agents require a robust framework to analyze terms and execute end-to-end agreement workflows,” said CEO Allan Thygesen, positioning the company such that “Docusign becomes the essential agreement layer for any platform’s agent.”
Agents connecting through the server will draw on “the full context of past negotiations, accepted terms, clauses, and company policy,” per the announcement, with account-level admin controls, multi-region infrastructure, and multilingual support layered on top. It’s an extension of Docusign’s two-decade-old API platform, already embedded in more than 1,100 partner apps, now bidirectional with Oracle, Slack, Perplexity, and Salesforce’s Agentforce.
Salesforce, which named Docusign Partner of the Year for its IAM integrations, previewed the practical shape. Joe Inzerillo, the company’s president of enterprise and AI technology, said Agentforce and Slackbot “will read and act on contract terms in real-time.” Gary Sonnenthal, Experian’s VP of global quote-to-cash product ownership, called Docusign the “core agreement layer” for that motion. Slalom’s Carlos Etter said his firm would help joint customers design deployments.
The strategic read is straightforward. The past year of agent releases, from Salesforce’s Winter ’27 agent slate to the Claudeforce sales agent to 6sense’s live intent feeds, has automated everything upstream of signature. The signature itself remained a manual handoff. After September 30, that handoff collapses into a natural-language step: an agent sends the contract, checks status, retrieves prior terms, triggers workflow, all inside the assistant the operator already uses.
Two open questions the release doesn’t answer. Governance parity between beta enterprises and small accounts is unspecified. And the event is scheduled, not live. Every claim above ships or doesn’t at end of month.
